NDIS expos head to Modbury
Thursday – 1 June 2017
Another great turnout greeted us at Modbury for the NDIS community expo on Tuesday 23 May. Around 200 people attended to learn more about the introduction of the NDIS and hear from a range of speakers about how the scheme works, as well as job opportunities in the sector.
Thank you to the people of Modbury and surrounding areas for coming along –and we hope you got useful information as we prepare for the NDIS to be rolled out for people aged 18 to 64 in the North Eastern Adelaide region from 1 October 2017.
Joining us at this special event was Leesa Vlahos MP, Minister for Disabilities who welcomed everyone and then we heard from a panel of representatives from the disability sector, as well as state and federal governments who presented introductory information on the scheme and took questions from the audience.
The panel consisted of:
- Nick Ashley – Executive Director NDIS Reform, Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI)
- Natasha Steen–Assistant Director of Engagement, South Australia, National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA)
- Peter Hoppo – State Manager, National Disability Services (NDS)
- Alex Reid–Deputy Chief Executive, Department of State Development
Also at the expo were 30 stallholders, including disability service providers and registered training organisations, providing information for people with disabilities and their families as well as talking to people about the job and training opportunities in the sector across the region.
