NDIS expo coming to Western Adelaide
Tuesday – 6 February 2018
People in Adelaide's western suburbs will today have the opportunity to learn more about the National Disability Insurance Scheme at an information expo.
The State Government's NDIS Community Expo will be held at The Parks Recreation and Leisure Centre at Angle Park, starting at 3.30pm.
Community members will get the chance to hear from a range of speakers about how the NDIS works, job opportunities in the disability sector, and talk one-on-one with disability service providers and training organisations.
The NDIS will be available for people aged 18 to 64 in the Western Adelaide region - which includes the West Torrens, Port Adelaide Enfield, and Charles Sturt council areas - from 1 April this year.
The roll out will create up to 950 jobs in Western Adelaide, with up to 6000 jobs set to be created across the state once the Scheme is fully operational.*
Launched in May last year as a central part of the State Government's $1.35 million NDIS community awareness campaign, Community Information Expos have been held throughout South Australia.
More than 3000 people with disability, family members, job seekers, and disability service providers have attended the 20 expos conducted so far in locations such as Gawler, Mount Gambier, Kingscote, Port Augusta, Clare, Kadina, Port Lincoln, Coober Pedy, and metropolitan Adelaide. Three more community information expos will be held in February and March.
More than 700,000 people have also been reached through Facebook as part of our State Government's NDIS awareness campaign, while more than 100,000 page views have been recorded on the campaign's website.
The final two expos will be held on Tuesday February 20 at Paradise for the Eastern Adelaide region, and Friday 9 March at Hahndorf for communities in the Adelaide Hills region.
