Big turnout for Northern Adelaide NDIS expo
Wednesday – 24 May 2017
On Friday 19 May we held the second of 22 community expos we’re hosting across the state to introduce South Australians to the NDIS.
Thank you to the people of Mawson Lakes and the northern suburbs for coming along - we had an overwhelming response as we prepare for the NDIS to be rolled out for people aged 18 to 64 in the Northern Adelaide region from 1 July 2017.
The interest was so strong we scheduled two presentations so as many people as possible could hear from our panellists and ask questions about the scheme.
More than 160 people came to the presentations and heard from a range of speakers about how the NDIS works, and job opportunities in the sector.
The panel included representatives from the disability sector, state and federal governments who answered questions from attendees
- Nick Ashley, Executive Director NDIS Reform, Department of Communities and Social Inclusion
- Jo Brown, Director Stakeholder Management SA, National Disability Insurance Agency
- Peter Hoppo, State Manager, National Disabilty Services
- Alex Reid, Deputy Chief Executive, Department of State Development.
Also at the expo were 27 stallholders including disability service providers and registered training organisations, providing information for people with disabilities and their families as well as people interested in job opportunities in the sector.
